Ferrari S.P.A. (Societŗ per azioni) is an Italian luxury sports car with its manufacturer based in Maranello. Ferraru was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari S.P.A. in 1947. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has had great success. Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.
The famous symbol of the Ferrari race team is the Cavallino Rampante ("prancing horse"); a black prancing stallion on a yellow shield, usually with the letters S F (for Scuderia Ferrari), with three stripes of green, white and red (the Italian national colors) at the top. Ferrari has internally managed merchandising lines that licenses many products bearing the Ferrari brand, including Ferrari watches, eyewear, pens, pencils, electronic goods, perfume, cologne, clothing, high-tech bicycles, cell phones and laptop computers.
